Churchill's Birthplace
John and I have been enjoying Saturdays as a great day to take a day trip to somewhere new! So this Saturday, we headed to Woodstock to see the Birthplace of Winston Churchill: the Blenheim Palace (pronounced by the English as "Blenem").
It was a gorgeous sunny day, very windy though! After taking a tour throughout the palace rooms including the green room, red room, dining room, library (...kind of like the White House....) we ventured outside to explore the 4,000 acres of beautiful land that the estate includes. No, we didn't get to quite cover all the acres, but it is filled with gardens, fountains, hedge mazes and oversized games, bridges, lakes, trails, rivers, waterfalls, sheep
, pastures, woods.... The pictures can speak for themselves. We had a great time stepping a little bit out of Oxford and exploring something new together.
Someday John would like to meet the Duke of Marlborough, who lives at the Palace, and find out exactly what is on his job description... Playing Chess and boating, perhaps?

Nellie, Nice site. I really enjoyed sharing your experience by reading your blog. Your Dad passed on the address. We look forward to seeing you sometime during the week of March 11th. I am sure you are in contact with Krista.
