Spring Break..
With both of my tutorials just finished, spring break is on my mind. The destination for spring break this year will not be the oceans of Florida, a cottage, or the English countryside. Instead, on Thursday afternoon, John and I will be walking to the Gypsy Lane bus stop to catch the bus to Gatwick airport. From there, we will board a plane to the Czech Republic to visit the historic city of Prague.
"Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, is the country’s most important political, economic and cultural center, as well as the seat of the President, Government and Parliament. Prague is one of the most beautiful, romantic and best preserved historical cities in Europe. Its visitors and admirers often call it “Golden Prague” or “the city of a hundred spires”." Since I am part Czech, I will be the part-time translator for the trip and John will fill in the other parts, as he has been vigorously memorizing the helpful words at the back of our travel book. (not really...) Although we have done a bit of planning and John put together a great itinerary full of ideas of things to do, see, and experience, the entire trip will be based on flexibility. As he has told me, "The best things are not necessarily outlined in the travelbooks, but just happened upon." Until we find and tell you about those happenings, here are some thing we have in mind for our days...On Friday, we are going to a concert to hear the Czech Philarharmonic Orchestra perform at the Rudolfinum hall. We are going to try to catch a football game over the weekend, AC Sparta Praha vs. FC Slovacko. We will no doubt spend a couple of afternoons exploring the Prague Castle (and the Strahov Library, with its 9th century books), exploring Old and New Town with its many bookstores, antique stores, and cafes. Our hostel, complete with the company of 10 other worldwide travelers, is located in Old Town and we are hoping (pretty sure) that is centrally located to things to do like bowling, swimming, tennis, and coffee shops. After eight weeks of rigorous reading, tutorials, and school work, we are both looking forward to the break. Are we bringing any books, you may ask? Yes, actually we are. BUT, they don't have to do with anything related to the next papers we have to write when we get back!More to come...when we arrive.....

It will be very interesting for Nellie to be the translator in Prague! I wonder how they pronounce "bag" in Slovak?
You are a great writer! Nice summary! I'm excited--- only one more day! Excuse me, I have to finish memorizing my Chech phrases.
Have a blast on your well deserved break! I can't wait to hear about all the fun things you end up doing...all your plans sound really fun! :)
